Agricultural project in Nyarure

In its mission to help eliminate famine and food self-sufficiency, Cibitoke residents and/or those who have lived abroad have started an agricultural project.
It is in this perspective that CDN requested and obtained from the Government of Burundi a land of 7.5 hectares for the cultivation of maize. This land is located in Nyarure, municipality of Mabayi, in the province of Cibitoke.
Any association and/or individual - having received land on this site - should grow only maize, within a deadline set by the government of Burundi.
To meet these demands, CDN immediately set to work. In January 2021 began the first growing season. The harvest took place in July. Unfortunately, the harvest in the first season was not good due to several factors. We could mention, among others, the conspicuous lack of fertilizers. On the other hand, the current second growing season gives us hope for a better harvest than the previous one.
In the future, to maximise production, we plan to combine agriculture with the rearing of cows and pigs. This serves the association to procure sufficient fertilizer not only for itself, but also for the farmers of this valley.

Agricultural Project: Season A 2022

In the middle of the agricultural season, CDN has realized a project on an extension of 5 hectares, of which 2 hectares reserved for maize and taro. For this part of the land, we are in the hoeing phase. The remaining land will be reserved only for taro.
This year we started growing a little early. This portends a better yield than in previous seasons.
In a context of global food crisis, CDN intends to help the people of Cibitoke and all the people of Burundi to take control of the food issue of the country.
