According to Espérance Ntirampeba, Legal Representative of SFBSP-Burundi, the goal of this workshop was to improve the self-esteem of women and girls leaders and make them more supportive of each other. «It is also an advantage for us to raise women’s awareness of inclusive participation in decision-making bodies», she added. In addition, the strong participation of women in these instances would contribute to the eradication of gender-based sexual violence (VSBG).
The workshop facilitator, Sosthène Irumva, demonstrated that this training will allow the beneficiaries to change the mentality towards their loved ones and fight for the defense of their rights.
Note that the 25 participants included 21 «Imboneza» women and 4 opinion leaders men. They have all committed themselves to raising awareness of the results of training in their localities.
